cats do everything of importance better than people, and that we, their beloved humans, can only be our very best when we
follow their example. Cats
Do It Better Than People celebrates
the best our cats share with us—from unconditional love and patience with the foibles of others to scrupulous personal
habits and the commanding of respect and obedience from others. Here, cat people share favorite anecdotes as well as lessons
learned from their feline companions, such as . . . · Cinnamon, who bonded completely with her humans’ infant son and
became a third parent · Emily, whose furry evidence on her human’s leather jacket won him a major sale
· Zazu, who learned to trigger the motion detector at the animal shelter
so he would have human visitors at night · Pretty, a seventeen-year-old top cat, who with one meow kept her new kitten brother, Rambo, in his place

FAREWELL TO ABBY The
following is my self-published tribute to a most magnificent German Shepherd dog, Farewell to Abby. When
the last remaining member of my German Shepherd pack, Abby, started to limp and struggle with walking, I thought it was perhaps
a severe bout with arthritis. After all, it was winter time, and I was struggling with my own aches and pains. Abby was a
few months past her 8th birthday. So, I was not worried. After a few weeks of this limping, however, added to the
slowness of her three-legged walk, a hard knot of lump appeared on the bone of her right rear leg at the stifle. The rest
is now history, a tragic diagnosis of osteosarcoma, hours and hours of diligent research, trips to several excellent veterinarians
in hopes of some reprieve from the dire prognosis, and then, the days of rimadyl for pain relief and finally, the victory
of terrible pain and Abby’s tragic descent. The only kind and loving thing a person can do for a beloved pet when pain
takes over its life and the prognosis is zero, is to hold that beloved pet in one’s arms and allow it to be freed from
its diseased body to return to its Creator. I held Abby in my arms and sang to her while she passed into sleep and eternity,
gently, with love, and without added suffering. I shall never cease missing this awesome companion. The book is a tribute
to Abby in photographs that show the scope of her beautiful and full life. It
is available directly from the author: Theresa Mancuso, 310 Beverly Road, Brooklyn, New York. $9.95 (includes shipping.) (718)
